Both the catalogue and the exhibition are intended to shed new light on modernist architecture of the 1950s and 1960s. They display completed and unrealised, renowned and lesser-known building projects by key architects from a period that has garnered more international attention in recent years. This period represents a turning point for modern Norwegian architecture which has been little researched despite being widely discussed. In addition to an extensive introduction, the catalogue is divided into four main chapters highlighting different thematic areas: from sketch to the media, modernism and its history, landscape and nature and space and experimentation. In selecting works to include emphasis has been placed on high architectonic quality and under-communicated aesthetical challenges of the period.
