Danish collage artist Kirstine Roepstorff is fascinated by world affairs and keeps up to date through newspapers, text on the internet and more. From these sources she draws inspiration for her diverse, powerful and often humouristic works. She frequently employs “feminine” techniques and materials such as yarn, embroidery, sequins and fabric (combining them into sharp political commentary). Roepstorff is also fond of treasure chests and at the National Museum she exhibited her own works together with pieces selected from other local museums and collections. This book has been published in a collaboration between the Kunstmuseum Basel and the National Museum in connection with Kirstine Roepstorff’s exhibitions at these museums in 2010–2011.
