Nasjonalmuseet together with Peder Lund is delighted to announce a performance by the legendary American artist James Lee Byars (1932-1997).

"The Perfect Love Letter" will be performed on the steps of the Museum of Contemporary Art Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th.

"The perfect love letter is I write I love you backwards in the air" was performed by James Lee Byars in front of Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1974. The artist wore a white suit, a black top hat and a black blindfold. With his right index finger he drew the letters "I-L-O-V-E-Y-O-U" backwards in the air.
