What was the single most time-consuming project when you were getting ready for the new museum?
It must have been the gilded leather wall covering that’s now in Room 5. A dedicated team of 2–4 conservators worked full-time on it for two years. The gilded leather was mended, the joins were reinforced, and then the leather was cleaned and mounted on stretcher frames. Have you visited the museum and seen how amazing it looks now?
