Mark Rothko. Paintings on Paper
Welcome to the opening of “Mark Rothko. Paintings on Paper”!
The exhibition is a collaboration with the National Gallery of Art in Washington. With over eighty paintings on paper from every phase of Mark Rothko’s career, this is the first major presentation of the artist’s work in the Nordic countries. The artist’s son, Christopher Rothko, will be present and will formally open the exhibition.
Programme:
17.30: Speeches in the Salon, with musical interludes by musicians from the Oslo Philharmonic.
18.00: Opening of the exhibition in the Light Hall.
18.15: Curators in conversation in the Main Hall, with Adam Greenhalgh from the National Gallery of Art in Washington and Karianne Ommundsen from the National Museum. The conversation will be in English.
19.15: Lecture in the Auditorium by Øystein Ustvedt, curator at the National Museum, “Mark Rothko. From A to Z”. The lecture is in Norwegian.
20.00: The museum closes
The event will begin punctually. It is free, open to all, and no registration is required, but to attend you must have a valid entrance ticket to the museum. Admission will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis, so please arrive early to be sure of a place.
