Into the fashion archive: Queer lives, archives and activism!
In connection with the exhibition "Ephemeral Matters. Into the Fashion Archive" the National Museum welcomes you to a conversation with Reidar Engesbak and Valérie Rauzier, moderated by curator Geir Haraldseth.
The conversation is inspired by the Queer Zine Archive Project in Milwaukee, a large private collection of zines produced for and by the queer community. Parts of this collection are showcased in the exhibition. The conversation compares the American and Norwegian queer environments and corresponding collections and stories, with a focus on Engesbak and Rauzier's activities and archives.
Reidar Engesbak has spent time as a political activist, journalist for the queer magazine Blikk, DJ, photographer and designer. He also has several works in the National Museum’s collection.
Valerie Rauzier has been involved in independent radio and fanzine creation since the early 1990s. When she moved to Norway in 2002, she started the monthly queer/feminist zine OvAryAction with Ingvild Krabbesund. Rauzier also hosted a weekly radio program on Radiorakel.
The conversation will be held in English, and is included in the entrance ticket to the museum.
