Dan Styffe

My name is Dan Styffe and I play in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.

I also a professor of double bass at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Barratt Due Institute of Music. I also give recitals, record CDs and give master classes around the world.

I am very grateful that Dextra Musica allows me to use this bass made by Gaspar da Saló. It is a wonderful instrument with a warm and very personal sound. And it could be used to everything from orchestral playing, chamber music and solo. And it’s history is amazing.

It has been through a lot over these years. It was built around 1580. I am lucky.
