About the artist

Anawana Haloba (born 1978) is a central contemporary artist, highly topical and at a crucial moment in her international career. She has participated in numerous international group exhibitions and biennials. In 2025, she is taking part in the Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art and is currently nominated for both the Artes Mundi Prize and the Lorck Schive Art Prize. 
Haloba has been selected as the Festival Artist for Bergen Kunsthall during the Bergen International Festival in 2026.

Anawana Haloba is a PhD candidate in artistic research at the Art Academy at the Art Academy, Faculty of art, music and design, University of Bergen.

Haloba works across a wide range of media, including sculpture, video, performance, poetry, and sound installation. The Light Hall at The National Museum is an ideal space to highlight the experimental character of Haloba’s spatial installations.
