In the Moment. Performance at the National Museum

Meredith Monk is recognized as one of the most unique and influential artists of our time. As a composer, performer, and interdisciplinary artist Monk has been active for six decades. She will perform a concert of her work at the National Museum with members of her renowned Vocal Ensemble, Katie Gessinger and Allison Sniffin, on Saturday October 25th. 
 
Elina Waage Mikalsen’s commission will take you from the entrance of the National Museum, through to the collections and the narratives following them. The performance asks whose stories are heard and who tells them, uncentering the museum’s own logics. This will be the artist’s second commission for the museum since Mii golggahit joga, bálgá, njuvččaid, váriid / We Pour the River, the Path, the Swans, the Mountains in 2022.  
 
Sagg Napoli will present an interactive commission work for the museum square open to the public during the weekend of 25th-26th October. The Italian artist, known for their striking physical work that connects the physical with the mental, invites visitors to explore their rage, and where it resides in their mind and body.   
  
All three artists will join us for a conversation on Sunday October 26th. 
 
A correlating discursive programme on Saturday October 25th will look at relations between performance and institutional practices. Through lectures and conversations, the programme will bring together voices within artistic practice, curating, production, research and conservation relating to performance today.
