Nordic Commons

Thanks to a grant from Nordic Culture Point, the network unite the national galleries of Denmark, Finland,  Sweden and Norway —and eventually all Nordic countries. The network strengthens a shared commitment to reaching wider and more diverse audiences. This is achieved through the dissemination of our rich collections of art and craft, while maintaining a curious focus on our identities as commons and national museums within local contexts.

In an increasingly unstable world, the Nordic countries offer a strong foundation rooted in our democracies and their dialogic values and traditions. Building on a trust-based exchange of inspiration, experience, knowledge, and best practices, we can support each other in creating meaningful, educational art experiences and communities. These initiatives aim to engage broader and more diverse audiences—a vital prerequisite for a sustainable future.

The network cultivates and explores co-creative methodologies across mediation, education, curation, research, and universal design, which are anchored in various ways within our respective institutions.
