Filmscreening and conversation: Repatriation in Practice and the Museum’s Role

The National Museum invites you to a screening of the award-winning documentary “Dahomey”, followed by a panel discussion on the restitution of African art and the role of museums in a postcolonial era. 

The film raises important questions about ownership, responsibility, and justice in the display and return of African art and cultural heritage. The film serves as a starting point for a deeper conversation about art stewardship and ongoing repatriation processes across Europe and Africa.

The audience will gain insight into concrete projects and critical reflections on the role of museums in our time.
