Paul Gilroy: How does postcolonial art challenge the racial order?
Join us for a lecture by acclaimed scholar Paul Gilroy on the ways that postcolonial art responds to the histories and structures of racial hierarchy.
Winner of the 2019 Holberg Prize and founding director of the Sarah Parker Remond Centre at University College London, Gilroy is one of today’s foremost thinkers in the fields of cultural studies and critical race theory. In his lecture, Gilroy will share his thoughts on racism, nationalism and belonging, the African diaspora and the colonial legacies evident in art and aesthetics.
This is an opportunity to hear a pre-eminent voice reflect on how art can challenge racial hierarchies.
