«Gothic Modern. Fra mørke til lys» viser kunst fra perioden 1875 til 1925 sammen med verk fra europeisk middelalder og nordeuropeisk renessanse. Tro og tvil, kjærlighet og seksualitet, identitet og roller er noen av temaene i denne mangfoldige utstillingen.
Prosjektet er initiert av Finlands Nationalgalleri / Ateneum Kunstmuseum, Helsinki, og er laget i samarbeid med dem og Albertina, Wien.
