It contains books, exhibition catalogues, journals, auction catalogues and reference works in the visual arts, architecture, design, art and crafts and related disciplines. The library also holds a collection of artist's books. The library's collection must be viewed on site.

The museum's archive contains an extensive archive of artists and collections as well as a number of historical archives of major national importance. The collections also contain the private archives of various art associations, artists, scholars and companies.
